Marksmanship Information
The rifle and pistol matches were started several years ago and over the years we have had a total of fifteen hundred members enter the matches. One does not have to be a distinguish shooter. Many of the sharpshooter and marksmanship trophies go unrewarded.
We have incorporated the Young Marine marksmanship program, all they have to do when they fire at their home Unit is to verify the scores and send them in. Trophies are awarded to them as well.
The trophies are awarded at the Falls Church Staff meeting. If a Detachment cannot attend, the Division Commandants will pick up the trophies and present them to the Detachments and Units.
The National Postal Service Rifle and Pistol match will be held between March 1 and October 31. The entry forms must be submitted between the March 1 and October 31 dates accompied with the registration fee of $10.00 per entry.
Both rifle and pistol match teams must consist of five competitors. A team with four competitors will receive a blind score. Teams with less than four competitors may not enter the team competition but may enter the individual competition. Teams may be from an MCL Detachment, reserve unit, or an active duty unit. A detachment may enter more than one team. All members on a team must be from the same detachment or unit.
