Commandant's Message

MARINES, FMF CORPSMEN, ASSOCIATE MEMBERS & DEVIL DOGS

As we head for the close of the Marine Corps League's fiscal year 2013, we look forward to seeing the results of our efforts to recruit and retain members for our League. 

I want to thank each of you for your service, and for your contributions to the programs and activities of your detachments and the League.  You perpetuate what Marines and members of the League are all about.

Southwest Division Overview and Mission:

The Southwest Division is comprised of Marines and Detachments in the Departments of Arizona, California and Nevada, the islands of Hawaii, and Okinawa.

At the Division level, our mission is threefold:

  1. Support and assistance to departments, detachments, and Marines;
  2. Representation of the Division constituency to the Board of Trustees of the Marine Corps League;
  3. Support of the subsidiary organizations and ancillary programs of the League within our Division:
    • Subsidiary organizations include the
      Marine Corps League Auxiliary, the Military Order of the Devil Dogs, and the Young Marines of the Marine Corps League;
    • Ancillary programs include
      Marines Helping Marines, Marine for Life, Marine Youth Foundation, Toys for Tots, Marksmanship Program, Awards to outstanding Marines of the major commands in the West, Marine Corps League Foundation, Marine West Military Exposition, Homeless Veterans, VA Volunteer Services (VAVS), POW/MIA.

Our web site will be in the development and growth stage for a period of time.  We plan to provide you with a calendar of major events within the Division, links and direction for information pertaining to the Marine Corps League, educational and information exchange, and information that will be helpful to you whether you are thinking about joining us, or are currently a member.

The Southwest Division meets annually in January in the vicinity of Camp Pendleton.  Our meetings are held in conjunction with the Marine Expo West at Camp Pendleton.  We invite all members within the Division to not only attend our annual conference, but to participate in the Expo by meeting and supporting the active duty Marines who attend.
